“Estorsioni con metodo mafioso”: tre arresti a Canicattì

Estorsione aggravata dal metodo mafioso: i poliziotti della Squadra Mobile di Agrigento e del Commissariato di Canicattì arrestano tre canicattinesi.

Sirene spiegate alle prime ore del mattino di oggi tra Canicattì, Questura di Agrigento e poi, ultima destinazione, il carcere “Di Lorenzo”. I poliziotti della Squadra Mobile di Agrigento e del Commissariato di Canicattì hanno arrestato tre indagati di estorsione aggravata dal metodo mafioso. Si tratta di Antonio Maira, 74 anni, già condannato con sentenza definitiva per appartenenza alla “Stidda”, suo nipote Antonio La Marca, 34 anni, e Giovanni Turco, 24 anni, tutti di Canicattì. L’inchiesta è coordinata dalla Direzione distrettuale antimafia di Palermo. Le indagini sono state avviate nell’aprile del 2023 a seguito di un incendio a danno della saracinesca di un magazzino a Canicattì. I tre arrestati avrebbero così costretto la vittima dell’estorsione, ovvero la proprietaria del magazzino, a non affittarlo ad un soggetto intenzionato ad avviarvi un’officina, in potenziale concorrenza con il nipote di Maira, già titolare di un’officina. Maira, La Marca e Turco si sarebbero recati a casa della donna e l’avrebbero minacciata. Maira, vantando la sua appartenenza all’associazione mafiosa, peraltro nota alla donna, si sarebbe rivolto così a lei: “In questa zona comando io. Chi gli toglie il pane a mio nipote io gli tolgo la vita… mi conosce a me? Sa chi sono io?”. E un altro dei tre le avrebbe intimato: “Se affitti ti spacco la faccia”. Antonio Maira è stato coinvolto nella guerra di mafia tra Stidda e Cosa nostra a cavallo tra gli anni ’80 e ’90. E suo figlio è stato assassinato, vittima della faida.
