“Omicidio Lorena”: il ministro Nordio frena

Il ministro Nordio acquisisce una relazione della Corte d’Assise d’Appello dopo le perplessità espresse con un’interrogazione sul rinvio della condanna all’ergastolo all’omicida di Lorena Quaranta.

Antonio De Pace, 33 anni, è l’infermiere calabrese che la notte del 31 marzo del 2020 ha ucciso la fidanzata, il medico Lorena Quaranta, 27 anni, di Favara, nella loro casa a Furci Siculo in provincia di Messina. Il 19 luglio scorso la Cassazione ha annullato la sentenza di condanna all’ergastolo inflitta in Appello con rinvio ad altra sezione di Corte d’Assise d’Appello ma solo limitatamente alla valutazione di applicabilità delle attenuanti generiche dopo il ricorso della difesa. Le attenuanti invocate, e da valutare, sarebbero legate allo stato di agitazione, ansia e angoscia derivato all’imputato dalla pandemia covid in corso all’epoca del delitto. A seguito di una interrogazione parlamentare – firmata tra gli altri dalla deputata nazionale agrigentina del Partito Democratico, Giovanna Iacono, tramite cui sono state espresse delle perplessità nel merito di quanto ritenuto dalla Cassazione – il ministro della Giustizia, Carlo Nordio, ha acquisito una relazione della Corte d’Assise d’Appello di Reggio Calabria interessata dal processo. Nordio premette e ribadisce che non è in dubbio la responsabilità penale, definitivamente accertata, dell’imputato, e che si tratta solo di vagliare la ricorrenza delle attenuanti. E poi il ministro frena e replica: “Ciò detto, trattandosi di vicenda ancora sub judice (tradotto: sotto processo), il doveroso rispetto per l’autonomia e l’indipendenza dell’Autorità giudiziaria impedisce di entrare a fondo nel merito della decisione”.
