“Benemerenza civica” per Adelfio Elio Cardinale

L’Amministrazione comunale di Agrigento ha approvato la proposta di conferimento della “Benemerenza civica” al professor Adelfio Elio Cardinale. Le motivazioni.

Il sindaco di Agrigento, Francesco Miccichè, e la giunta comunale, con voti unanimi, hanno approvato la proposta di conferimento della “Benemerenza civica” al professore Adelfio Elio Cardinale, per avere contribuito all’arricchimento culturale della città di Agrigento. La proposta sarà dunque sottoposta alle valutazioni e al voto del Consiglio comunale. Il sindaco Miccichè commenta: “In prossimità dell’avvento dell’anno di ‘Agrigento Capitale Italiana della Cultura’ riteniamo doveroso e utile riconoscere il merito delle personalità maggiormente di rilievo scientifico, professionale, sociale e umano, che hanno speso ampia parte del proprio impegno a favore della città di Agrigento. Il professor Adelfio Elio Cardinale, sin dagli anni ’90, quando è stato tra i promotori del Consorzio Universitario, ha riservato particolare attenzione e passione verso Agrigento, la sua comunità, il patrimonio artistico e storico. E’ un tributo quindi di gratitudine e di valorizzazione del ruolo svolto per la nostra città”. Nella proposta di conferimento del riconoscimento al professor Adelfio Elio Cardinale – medico, sottosegretario di Stato alla Salute nel governo Monti, presidente del Comitato dei Garanti dell’Università degli Studi di Palermo e presidente della Società Italiana di Storia della Medicina (SISM) – tra l’altro si legge: “E’ stato tra i promotori dell’istituzione del Consorzio universitario della Provincia di Agrigento. Ha svolto attività culturale e scientifica nell’ambito dell’Accademia di Studi Mediterranei “Lorenzo Gioeni” di Agrigento, che lo ha insignito del Premio Internazionale per le scienze umane. Ha vinto anche il Premio Telamone. Ha organizzato i congressi “Giornate Agrigentine di medicina interna”. Come Sottosegretario alla Salute ha contrastato gli accorpamenti di ospedali e strutture sanitarie ad Agrigento e provincia. Ha promosso e divulgato nei suoi libri e in numerose conferenze la conoscenza dei primati scientifici di Agrigento nella scienza medica”.
